Manager of the Year Awards

Thank you to all of the managers first and foremost. Running and managing a team is a job that doesn’t get enough thank yous in the end, but you all do a wonderful job of getting players organized and out here. This year for the first year we held a vote for each division to hand out Manager of the Year awards to recognize managers who went above and beyond to make our league better.

Each award was be voted on my managers from each of the teams, umpires, and league board members.

The award was created to acknowledge and bring attention to the best managers in our league lead by example with good sportsmanship. They are gentlemen towards other teams, umpires and officials. These managers play by and respect the rules. Finally they represent and advocate for the league to the highest degree both on and off the field.

Winners of the Manager of the Year Award will receive a $25 gift card and a award certificate as a thank you from the league. They will be available tomorrow night for picking up!

Mid-season Update: June Meeting, Rainout Makeups…

Thank you to everyone who showed up to our June mid-season meeting. There was a lot of good discussions that will be brought up again and fleshed out over the off-season. Some of the major topics brought up include:

  • Manager of the Year awards.
  • Extra home runs on lower nights.
  • More flexibility on players playing 2 nights.

There’s always room for more discussion, rule changes and ideas to help promote, develop and grow our league. Please feel free to submit your ideas, opinions and comments to us at anytime using our contact us form. We review every comment that comes through. These meetings and emails are the best way to present ideas. We do love talking to people while we’re at the field, but it’s not the best avenue for getting your feelings out if you want change.

Mark Your Calendars: Mid-season League Optional Meeting

Starting this year we’re hosting a in-season optional league gathering for any SF Men’s manager or player to have a chance to chat with board members. Meet us Saturday June 16th from 1-4pm at the Overtime Sports Grill and Bar.

We are interested in talking about the state of the league, ideas for next year, and anything outstanding issues that have occurred this season so far. The idea behind this in-season meeting is to get some bullet points on the agenda for discussions that typically occur during the off-season. If you have discussion points, but can’t attend this date, feel free to email us at sfmsps@gmail.com or send a proxy in your place to make sure your voice is heard.

Hopefully we see you all on that Saturday and stay tuned for location and more details.

April 26th 2018 – Opening Night

Softball is back! We started off with some windy weather at the beginning of the night but even that calmed down as the night went on. The Thursday night division of Sioux Falls Men’s Slow Pitch featured 13 teams playing 13 games on the lower 4 diamonds at Harmodon. Tonight our Friday night division kicks off their opening week. Be sure to check out scores, standings and schedules!

Did you miss bat check and ball pick up?

Over 70 teams showed up Wednesday and Thursday to check in with the league to pick up softballs, score books and rule books. Many more players also showed up to have their bats tested for the 2018 season. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their days to get all that taken care of. That does leave a number of teams who will need to check in yet to get started for the 2018 summer season.

Starting Thursday April 26th the shack at Harmodon will be open from 5:30-6:15pm for bat testing or other team check in items. The shack will be open at the time prior to each night’s first week. If you have any questions please contact us.

Many teams have player waivers that are due yet. Please have every player that plans to play a game this year sign this wavier!
